      Degustation for Dignity 2019

Join us for Degustation for Dignity - St Mary's House of Welcome's annual gala fundraising event.

This year, we will be joined by renowned wine expert - Max Allen - who will match an amazing selection of premium Australian wines to a seven-course degustation menu, before sharing their in-depth knowledge and expertise of local wines in a 'Masterclass' for guests. Each guest will receive a booklet with tasting notes and information on each wine they have tried on the night.

A key part of the night is our fundraising through the Major and Silent Auctions. We have a great range of items up for auction e.g. gourmet food hampers, experience days, restaurant vouchers and cases of delicious wine (to name a few).

Join us on Friday 25 October 2019 at Collingwood Town Hall from 06.30 to enjoy the delectable food and wine and to help raise money for a good cause.

St Mary’s House of Welcome is a not-for-profit Open Access Centre in the heart of Fitzroy, providing basic essential services to vulnerable people who are homeless and experiencing poverty, severe and persistent mental health issues, and those who are extremely isolated and socially marginalised.

Many of those who come to St Mary’s House of Welcome for help experience multiple issues including sleeping rough, drug addiction, poverty, childhood trauma, mental illness, institutionalization, and street drinking - all of which adds up to chronic social and health problems.

St Mary’s House of Welcome open-door policy means that anyone who needs assistance can come to the centre for practical assistance. Whether it’s a meal, a shower and a change of clean clothes or other material aid, or more specialist support such as information, referral to access specialist services, legal support and emergency relief. In addition to these basic services, we also provide a comprehensive monthly program of structured activities (art and craft groups, fishing group, pool competition, choir, gardening) with an emphasis on creating greater social inclusion opportunities for those who are so excluded from many of the things most of us take for granted.
