      Defiant Lives Screening

      Join the Darebin Disability Advisory Committee (DDAC) for a screening of 'Defiant Lives', an award winning documentary about the disability rights movement and how it changed the world we live in.  Defiant Lives tells the story of individuals who put their lives on the line to create a world where everyone can participate, regardless of impairment. The documentary pull together footage of protests and interviews with some of the most important international disability rights activists of our time.  A light morning tea will be provided. Content note: The documentary features footage of historical institutions and discusses institutionalisation, historical abuse and ableism.  Access: Defiant Lives is Closed Captioned and Audio Described Hearing Loops will be available Auslan interpreters are available upon request - please get in touch with Council's MetroAccess Officer as soon as possible to arrange on 8470 8368 or zoe.howard@darebin.vic.gov.au Preston Shire Hall is wheelchair accessible  Preston SHire Hall has an accessible toilet onsite Accessible parking available on Gower Street customer service carpark and in Townhall Ave A Changing Places facility is located on the corner of Kelvin Grove and Gower Street  A recharge point will be available in the Shire Hall
